Vortec for 97 Cobra

I am considering get a Vortec [kit below] for my 97 Cobra. The car has 47000 miles,
FRPP 4:10 gears, Speedcal, FRPP Quadrant & cable, Custom CAI, Hurst Shifter, 98 Cobra wheels, Flowmaster American Thunder catback w/dumps, Eibach Pro springs, subframe conectors, rear upper & lower control arms


1996-1997 Mustang Cobra 4.6L V-2 SQ SC-Trim Standard System

Stock HP/TQ: 305/285
Vortech HP/TQ: 442/390
Boost (PSIG): 7-9
Includes High-flow fuel pump, Fuel management unit (FMU) and ECM chip or module
Carb E.O. D-213-17

Part Number: 4FK218-010SQ

Looking for anyone with a similar setup for their pros and cons to doing this.
 
We have very similar rides. I'm really happy with my setup, although Vortech's numbers are exaggerated. I'm putting down about 423 HP and 374 TQ. The car will lay waste to just about everything you'll run into on the street. You should also consider boost and fuel pressure gauges, as well as upgrading your rear wheels.

BlackonBlackCobra96 & 4VCobraSVT someday I hope to supercharge my 97 (guess everyone dreams of a charged stang huh) and was curious what factors helped you decide to go with a the Vortech over other units such as Procharger, Kenne Bell, or Whipple.

I made 414RWHP, and 366RWTQ. 8lbs of boost. I can tear anything up on the street. Put it this way......

I raced my Dad's 2007 GT500 on the freeway. 70MPH roll, both 3rd gear, I pulled on him all the way till he let off at about 110MPH. We raced from a rolling first gear....yeah right, he smoked me!!! Then a 45-110MPH roll, it was pretty much window to window.

The 70-110MPH race, he thinks maybe, he could have gotten down to 2nd, but he wasn't willing to try it. Next time I drive his GT500, I will see what RPM 3rd gear is in at 70MPH and judge if he could have gotten 2nd...it would be really really close.

I had all bolt on's gears, exhaust, tb, and my car felt almost as good as it does now charged, not a huge difference. I should have went the turbo route, but I didn't want to cut my car up. I wish it it had a little more torque.
