Listen to this crazy ear pearcing high pitch noise something is making under my hood. I have no idea wtf this could be. Its not the regular S trim sound, you can here that whistle, Listen right after that, when i accelerate, it hits this ear piercing high squeal. Cant tell if its the s/c, alternator, or one of the pullies.

damn thats weird.

try to eliminate some things to find the source. lube the belt with some ivory soap to make sure it's not the belt (i dont think it is)

kinda sounds like a really small air leak is making a whistle sound. seems like it only happens at the higher rpm/boost.

Maybe it is your bypass valve. It sound like the noise starts when the valve begins to open.

I know its been making this sound for quite a long time (a year or so?). So i guess the good news is nothing is getting worse or running any different. I guess i never realized how loud it was under the hood. I hear it in the car but always thought it was speaker whine/buzz since it was so high pitched. It starts to do it as i accelerate in any gear at 2K rpms. I cant hear it much over 2500rpm because my exhaust is louder. If i shift and the rpms drop below 2K,the sound quickly stops and starts back up at 2K. But if i let the revs drop on their own, the sound stays until it gets down to 1500rpm. I'll have to check the BOV. I have a vortech mini race vented to the atmosphere.

i have a feeling the BOV is very slightly venting when you hear that sound. high pressure air flying through a tiny opening makes high pitch noises.

Figured out what was causing this sound. The tensioner. I was watching it and it stays perfectly still and tight until the rpms hit 2K, then it moves over a tiny bit and gets a small vibration/movement to it from the belt, and thats when it starts squealing. I tried to WD40 the bearing/idler but it didnt help. Wonder why its doin that. And thinkin about it now, it did start making this sound about a year ago when i got the 8 rib kit. I had a new tensioner put on that was modified (tabs cut off so it could flex more to get a tighter belt on), not sure if that would have anything to do with it.

it dont see a tensioner causing this problem. it will move slightly when you rev it up because it's doing it's job of keepint tension on the belt under all loads. this is definatly a air problem or possibly a weird bearing problem. try this....unhook the vacuum line on your bov and see if the noise goes away.

that sounds more like a air leak then a pulley problem. I say this because usually pulleys have more of a up and down sound rather then a high pitched constant squich (if that makes sense). Also why do so many people insist on using wd-40 for a lubricant? Its not. Its a solvent. Thats why when you put it on something that needs lubrication it stops working after about a week depending on what you use it on.

Well, you guys were right. I figured out the real cause of the sound. It was an air leak. Its because my IAT sensor is just pluged into the silicone coupler before the MAF. It isnt sealed or anything and it is making the air leak sound when it revs.

What can i use to seal it into the coupler better? Or is that not a good place to have it in the first place?

Thats where my IAT sensor is at and I've never had that problem. I would try some silicone sealer.

vortech s trim

I have the same exact problem on my novi, but it only does that high pitch when I'm at 1700rpm if I go 2k it stops and if I go 1500 it stops too,I was getting worried if it was something wrong with the blower but after this post I'm gonna check everything you mention

update: I replaced the coupler that i thought was causing this sound, but it didnt fix it. So yesterday i unplugged the vaccum hose to the BOV. and it changed the sound. I made a new vid. Check it out and any advice of what to check from here would be really appreciated.
