Hey everyone,

Just had some simple questons, I have finally saved enough money for the vortech kit, and downloaded the install instructions to see what I'm up against. One of my questoins was about the t-rex fuel pump. From what I can see its some sort of external pump that increases fuel flow?? I was assuming that the kit was intended for a car that had a stock fuel system. I don't have much, but I do have the 190lph fuel pump that I put on my car when chasing some driveability problems, along w/24lb injectors. With this fuel pump, would you still recommend using the t-rex pump?? Also I figured the injectors should be ok for now, I was going to upgrade later maybe to some 30's, would this be ok, or are the 30's required now. Thats all I can think of for now.

Thanks,
Douglas

I would put in the T-rex that comes with the kit. You 'could' keep the 24's but you would need to use the FMU that comes with the kit also. You could upgrade to 42's and ditch the FMU, but that would require a recal. on the MAF.

THe new 42's are dirt cheap on EBay right now.

I run 24's...stock is 25.

Al Heads= 24
Iron heads = 25
Iron heads + power adder = 24
Al Heads + Power adder = 23

Your going to need bigger injectors and maf recal for the injectors. Some sort of tuning device or chip is required right after the install.

I used the T-rex in my car. It will be fine if you have big intank pump (255 or higher).

Yeah, I don't plan on going wot or anything after the install, I planned just to install it and either go to a shop to get a tune, or buy the tweecer. There aren't that many shops w/a dyno that I've looked into in my area, so I was leaning toward the tweecer, but haven't made up my mind because I've always wanted to play w/the tweecer, but am afraid to mess anything up w/the blower. I know if I get the larger injectors, need to have the right cal tube, but didn't have a lot of money, and figured if I could get away w/the 24's temporarily I would do so and just get the inj later. Thanks for the advice, anything else you can think of let me know, I've never installed a supercharger before, but the install instructions don't look that bad.

Thanks,

A little tip for you. The entire kit can be installed on a work bench then brought over to the car and bolted to the head. I have step by step pics of it when your ready. It will knock 3 hours off the install.

DO NOT even put the 24's on the car. I blew the heads off my block with 42's because of a lean condition. There is no such thing as getting by. Do everything that's required right away. You will have to get to a dyno right after the car is started the first few minutes. Trust me on this. You need to know where your A/F ratio is among other things.

I believe he said he's getting the kit, which will have the FMU.. Without the FMU, Joe's right...with it, you can "get by" I did for awhile, then went with 36's (stock heads)
