Okay.. I don't know how to do a poll. Oh well. Only two options anyhow. Without getting into detail... a real brief summary of my direction for my car. I want performance and looks.. who doesn't?? The car is not a daily driver (especially here in WI). The car will be driven hard and autocrossed whenever I get the chance (children are time consuming). No, I do not have power booster. I'm going without one unless I feel the need to change. I've got the 17" Vintage wheels.. so I've got plenty of room.

Option A: Baer. Solid racing background. Crossdrilled rotors look very cool. Only 12" rotor option for my stock spindles. 11" rear rotors. Pros are that they look cool and have a good name. Cons are that some people frown upon crossdrilling and I can't use their 13" rotors with my spindles. Also, I'm not sure how complete and easy to work with their kits are.

Option B: Stainless Steel Brake Corp. Brakes is their game. Retro-fitting old cars seems to be a specialty of theirs. So their kits have a good reputation for being complete and detailed. Another pro is that they can provide me with a 13" rotor that fit my spindles. I guess their only con is that they only provide the slot option. They don't look quite as cool as cross drilling.

Costs are about the same... so don't factor that into your opinion, please.

I would go with the SSBC's. Never buy a product just because of the name, if the other one is better, and it fits what you need, get it.

Without a doubt, cross-drilled rotors scream cool and racey more than darn near anything else (other than a roll bar maybe), but I've also heard the concerns about cross-drilled rotors. However, recently I've heard that its less of an issue in recent years because of engineering and metal techology advancements. With this in mind, I'd contact Baer to get their opinion, and ask about warranty on their products, especially cross-drilled rotors (i.e. if the rotor cracks, do they consider it a defect in material or workmanship and would they cover replacement).

That said, slotted rotors look damn cool too, and 13" rotors look better than 12", especially behind 17" wheels. And I would think a 13" rotor should theoreticaly give better performance than a 12" if all other factors were the same, so the question is whether cross-drilling provides significantly better performance than slotting? This is a question you should ask both Baer and SSBC.

So, if it were me, I'd look at performance, then price, then looks. So, if both perform similarly and cost similarly, then its down to deciding if I like the look of a slotted 13" rotor or a cross-drilled 12" behind the 17" wheels. I'd probably go with the SSBC 13" at that point.

If you got the bucks spend 'em. However, working with Granada fronts and '70 rears will do the same in the stopping department.
