3.8stangsonnnnn and others who've been waiting forever.... I've been in the same boat as you since 09JUN. If you guys are interested enough to call the robot lady and post/lurk on this site... you know you want the stang bad enough to suck it up and wait it out. I have been thinking the same thing since I placed the order. Checking everyday witht the 1-800 number... then one day (last week for me) you get the news that your car has been serialized... two days later you get an order date. I guess it's probably easy for me to say, since I know mine will be built w/of 03OCT, but four months is worth waiting for a car that I really have been waiting three years for (since the first concept came out).

For those of you waiting on orders... I'd say keep your order but look around. I know you have seen the same posts that I have about members walking on a different lot and finding the stang they were waiting for. You're not obligated to buy the car if you only have the DORA (just as the dealer doesn't have to sell you the car just because you have one), but it definitely is a good thing to have in your pocket while you scour the local dealers for the car you've been looking for.

-Rick

p.s. the waiting still sucks... i know

Those 18" wheels are what's holding you up. I interned with Ford and I have very good ties with my extended family that work in various aspects of the company. I heard from my brother that anything 3 months and older were to be looked into, verify that the orders are legit, and the customer is still waiting, then do everything possible to get them built. Another problem is that alot of dealers have "sold" orders that aren't really sold. They just say they are, get Ford to prioritize those orders, then just put them on the lot and sell to the first guy that pays $2K over sticker. If you've ordered from one of those dealers, good luck, basically anything they have on order Ford has brushed aside. Last I heard MGTs were still averaging above MSRP, not as much as before, but still over sticker. Damn!

Yea if you have a order you should still look around at other dealers to see if they have something on their lots that you like.
Maybe you will not get the color that you want but you might get everything else.
I am glad the I got my 06 Stang Gt off of the LOT at Invoice and I still call the fords 800# to see really how long of a wait i would have had.And if i was waiting for my order i would still be at C/U as of 09/17/05 and i ordered it on 06/29/05........Go shopping around and i am sure you will find something.JohnnyT

Well guys... I ordered a 2006 GT on August 13 from Beach Ford in Virginia Beach, VA, and 0n Sept 13 it was on a transport. I should have it by the end of next week, 9/22 or so. Pricing is straight MSRP, no special plans, but no mark-ups either.

Called Sun State Ford in Florida and they want $3000 over sticker and they have about 8 Gts on their lots....I am sure what ever dealer you see with lots of Gts will have prices over sticker......No deals there.johnnyT

I am not saying anything bad about your dealer but I would call tomorrow and get a Dealer# and Order# and then call Fords 800# to see if you are really in the build process.
I would like to hear it for myself from the fords 800# so I can sleep at night knowing i am not getting screwed.....JohnnyT

Thought this would apply to this thread (Kzinti works for Ford in KC)

KZINTI - Hello from Kansas City Assembly Plant. I have been dealing lately with a large group of customers tracking their 2006 Mustang orders through the system, and there have been some interesting questions regarding dealership allocations that have come up lately. I would like to have some sort of simple explanation, if possible, to pass along to the customers to help them understand what the allocations are, how they work, and how they can affect their orders in the system.

I appreciate any help you can give on this.

FORD SP&D - Hi. Basically, a dealer earns Mustang allocation each month (broken down by week) based on his sales and availability. Limited (controlled) commodities are also allocated by week. The dealer prioritizes his orders in the order bank. The system then selects orders based on the priority as well as available allocation. We are struggling with a lot of capacity and/or supplier issues including GTs, manual transmissions, the Pony package, and the 18" wheel so buildability is a big variable right now. Here's an example. Let's say a dealer designates a retail order that is a manual GT with the 18" wheel a high priority unit. The unit would NOT get selected unless the dealer has allocation for all three of these commodities. Thus a lower priority V6 unit could be selected instead. This unit would not be selected (and scheduled) until the dealer has allocation for Mustang, GT, manual transmission, and the 18" wheel. That's a quick overview. Let me know if you need more detail or if you were looking for something different.

KZINTI - Most of the customers I deal with are interested to know why smaller dealers get fewer allocations than larger dealerships. They figure that the orders ought to be taken on a first come- first served basis. I have talked with them regarding delays due to parts availability and such, and if their orders were delayed due to those things it would be more understandable. However, I have customers who have placed a 2006 order months ago, who are still in sequencing, while another order for the same options has already hit production that was placed two weeks ago. Any comments on any of this that I could pass along that might help them understand a little better?

Thanks again for your time and help.

FORD SP&D - Again, we allocate to the region and then to the dealer. A dealer selling product faster gets more product than a dealer moving units slower. (We do NOT keep a list of retail orders nationally and allocate based on this last, like a first-in-first-out philosophy .) Our dealers are empowered to prioritize their own orders. So, the customer really needs to have the following discussion with the dealer:

How many Mustangs do you earn per month?
How many similar equipped orders are ahead of mine?

If a customer places an order with a dealer who only sells one or two per month on average, it could be several months before their order is selected for scheduling. The same could happen with a dealer selling 30 per month if there are 60 orders ahead of this customer.

So…to summarize…the customer needs honest, frank feedback from their dealership.

I think that sums it up real nicely, honest, frank feedback from the dealership...
