Walk me through the removal of the A/C system.

I'm really close to ripping it all out of there, especally now that it's developed a slow leak. I never use it and it cleans up the engine bay so much. So, how difficult is all this crap to remove? I'm pretty good at wrenching, so what am I looking at time wise? I've bought the FMS a/c delete deal to do this. Thanks!!

TTT for ya. It looks like a pita to take everything out. Look into the engine bay and trace all the lines. Its no simple task.

I have decided to keep mine because I am moving into a new house today and jumping into the car and putting the ac on is so nice after running around in what feels like 100 degree weather.

i'll probably end up just cutting the hoses, so hopefully that will make it a little easier.

DON'T CUT YOUR LINES!
You can re-use it if you sell it or change your mind or sell it for cash on eBay. They are easy to disconnect

I just removed mine and it is simple to do.
You need the same type/size coupler tool as for the fuel lines.
Depressurize at the valve stem by the intake.
Disconnect the two hoses at the evaporator (rear firewall).
Unbolt evaporator bracket from firewall and remove.
Disconnect the 2 near the radiator.
Unbolt the 2 that go into the back of the condensor (1 bolt).
Unbolt the 4 that hold the condensor on the bracket.
Done

yeah, a pic would be cool. did you just let all the pressure out by hand or did you use one of those recovery tanks? i figured i'd just jam a flathead in there and stand back.

Complete system minus cooler with 5 couplings to disconnect

Disconnect these 3

1 bolt holds other 2 by a bracket

(1 bolt)

These 4 bolts hold it to the bracket

These go to the cooler by the radiator

These are the tools you need (5/8 and 3/4)

I used a screwdriver and covered it and my hand to let the freon out so none would fly out all over the place. Its nasty and sticky like anti-freeze so take precautions when letting it out and cover the stem with a rag.

Yeah, it's really not too hard to do. Shouldn't take an hour, no matter what your skill level. Make sure you seal the compressor and accumulator as soon as you remove them. That way, they'll still be good if you ever change your mind or want to sell them.

No problem.
On the rubber elbow for the Power Pipe, cut off 1" from either side. It will make the install much easier.

Absolutely do not cut the lines, I just removed all of my a/c stuff and it makes the engine bay look so much better. The disconnect tools are like $30 but you only use them once so they don't get dirty, put them back in the package and return them. HAHA, but they are a good investment.
Here is a pic with the a/c removed, thats basically what the engine looks like all together, the upper and intake trac aren't on, but all the wiring is in, its just hidden.

nice. what kind of paint did you use on the engine bay? Mine needs to be done, i figured i was going to mask the engine off and spray bomb under there with some black high temp paint.

is that the krylon color changing paint kit in the pics? i have that stuff at home. i was considering using it to paint my little door pull pieces, like on the saleen.
edit: i tried the screwdriver trick and nothing happened. maybe i didn't get it pressed in far enough?

It's actually the same paint on the body. I used a small phillips driver. It was one from those small screwdriver kits in a plastic case. It's like letting air out of a tire valve stem.

I just removed my AC stuff this past weekend... For anyone who needs it, the Kragen belt part number ends in 1025. That is if you need a shorter one due not having the AC pulley anymore.
