I just bought a 05 GT 5 spd. with 7000 kilometers on it. I was using a Ford clear coat polish on the legend lime paint and noticed brownish specks embeded in the finish. I assume it's iron particle rail dust or something like that. I found if you pick at it with a finger nail it dislodges from the paint finish.

My question is, should I have to follow the TSB for iron particals now that I've removed the metal fragments, since they didn't seem to be embeded too deeply, or can I just continue to wax it up and let it go as is?

By the way, I've always meant to buy a mustang over the years. Test drove a 91 years back, and almost bought an 02 last year but didn't want another black exterior. Glad I didn't buy either because this 05 chassis/powertrain just outclasses them both bigtime.

Clay bar works great for what your talking about. If you already removed it, then there is no sense taking it in unless you find other areas on the car. Picking it out with your finger nail isn't the correct way, you can put scratches into the clear coat. Use the clay bar.

^^^^^ exactly. Clay the paint, put some polish on it and then wax. You'll be amazed by the results, even with a brand new car.

Thanks for the replies. There's still a few particles in the paint I missed so I'll pickup a clay bar and try it out.
