On past cars of mine I have waxed the windshield and windows with just a normal wax. I loved the results of the water beading quickly off side windows and windshield. I think it works much better than Rain-x. I haven't heard of many people doing this but like I said I love the results. I have had some people tell me that by doing this There will be a layer still on the car that Will never come off and I will stain or leave a layer of wax which will just not give a clean crisp look. You guys have any suggestions or experience? I use meguiars next gen.

Best to use Rain-X. Wax leaves residues which can smear and impair visibility in the rain. Also, Rain-X is specifically for this exact purpose...

use 'glass science' glass scrub to remove the wax, then they have a rain-x type treatment as well. i like their stuff pretty good..

the glass scrub is awesome for cleaning

Again, the Trout is correct. Keep wax off the windshield!
