Weather Stripping STILL leaking. HELP ASAP

Have an assistant aim a water hose around the windows and sunroof while you sit inside. You should be able to locate where the water is coming in. Sunroof leaks are common and you will need a new w/strip if it leaks there. Realize '79up mustangs don't have drip rails so you have to make sure the window goes up all the way. Take a Dollar bill and place it between the window frame and the doorjamb and close the door. the dollar bill will act like a feeler gauge, slide the bill around the opening noting the resistance....the resistance should be steady ...if it slides real easy in one spot, that is where the water is getting in around the window frame. Next step, roll the window all the way down and gently bend the window frame inward at the suspected site and re-check with the bill. The resistance should be uniform...any tight spots will make the door hard to close, loose spots, leaks and wind noise. HTH

There are much more things to insulate the inside from the outside on the doors. There are beltlines, dew wipes, trim molding, and door to body weatherstripping.

My beltline molding is cracked to death and I can hear the wind down the road, my dew wipes are cracked beyond belief so water rolled not only down the doors but in the door, and my weatherstripping was falling apart an missing in places. You just have to replace what you have to.

However, you also have a sunroof. So if you have water problems on the seats, I would blame upwards - how is the condition of the weatherstripping for the window?

Make a trip through the brush type car wash while you are in the car. I'll bet you will have no problem spotting the leaks.

I feel your pain my 89' GT has that exact problem, water seems to sneek in at the top corner of the door frame. That is not fun!! especially when you just spent a bunch of $$$ replacing sunroof & door weathertrim. Even cleaned out drain tubes leading from sunroof, All for not!!

I HAVE WORKED ON MANY WATER LEAKS, AND WHAT IVE SEEN ALOT OF IS THE SUNROOF DRAIN BEING CLOGGED. NOW IM NOT SURE IF MUSTANGS HAVE THEM , BUT IF YOU CAN, TAKE OUT THE SUNROOF, LOOK IN THE FOUR CORNERS FOR LEAVES OR ANYTHING THAT COULD BLOCK THE DRAIN HOLES. THERE ARE TUBES THAT RUN TO THE DRAINS, YOU CANT SEE THEM UNLESS YOU DROP YOUR HEAD LINER. FROM THERE THEY RUN DOWN THE PILLARS- BEHINED THE TRIM MOLDING. THE WATER OUTLETS ARE IN THE DOOR JAM BETWEEN THE TOP AND BOTTOM DOOR HINDGES. ANOTHER THING YOU CAN DO IS TURN YOUR A/C ON MAX, BLOWER IN HIGH, SHUT THE DOORS AND SOAP THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR WITH REALLY SOAPY WATER AND LOOK AROUND THE SEALS FOR BUBBLING. THIS WORKS ALOT OF THE TIME, IF WATER IS GETTING IN, AIR CAN GET OUT. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU FIND.

This is what I did found a tear in the weather stripping.Put a piece of vaccum hose in both ends then put black silocone around it too seal it.Keep the door open for a few hours in the sunlite while it dries.
