Hey guys. I'm looking at maybe doing a little bit of weight reduction. My car is mainly a street car, that will start seeing some track time soon. Just curious about what I should start doing, and if anybody has write ups on anything that would be sweet. Thanks guys.

Back seat,spare tire and jack is a good place to start..Thats what i have done so far..

Start with enerything in the trunk as said before.

You can a pound or two by taking out the stereo also. Not much wieght but every little bit helps.

Also another thing to keep in mind, is the amount of gas in the tank. I was on E today and it felt like a totally different car.

How much gas do you guys usually have at the track? Do you just add some between runs or what?

I would say nothing more than a 1/4 tank. Just bring an extra 5 gal jug with ya.

If you have a Mach 460 or the better one, that rear speaker assembly weights a ton ....

if you have the money, get a lighter hood
carbon fiber (painted of course) or fiberglass will shed a nice weight from your car.

Take out the pass. seat. Leave the old lady at the house. if you find a sexy young thing you wanna give a ride to let her sit in your lap....

Im a big fan of the drivetrain delete myself.

Just kidding.

I wouldnt mind shedding some weight from mine also. Only drawback is that I do use my back seat for passengers at times.

run low gas at the track and take the spare out thats what i do ive ran it w/the light on before just filled up when i left the car feels so much faster w/hardly any gas

Once you do the little things I would start with the bigger gains next. Swapping to a tubular k member setup will help out the most. Right now my car weighs about 3500 with me in it.

Ditch the Mott bar. Also, remove the front swaybar when you go to the strip, and scrape as much of that tar crap out of the interior, that is stuck to the sheetmetal under panels and carpet. We must have scraped 50lbs of that crap out of my buddy's Cougar, and it felt like a whole new car afterwards; albeit a tiny bit noisier. Power seats weigh a ton. Get a nice racing seat. You can actually pull off a significant weight reduction without changing the stock look of the interior much.
