Weird Plug Color?

I just changed my plugs today and my old plugs were like an orangish/tanish color. What does this mean? I'm kinda stumped. Anybody know what is wrong or what problem I have I sure hope there's not a problem. My car is running much much better with the new plugs.

Was it a rusty color? What gas do you run? Any additives?

A light tannish/gray deposit on the firing tip of a spark plug indicates normal combustion. I'm not so sure about the orange color though, I would venture to say that they have probably been in there a while. I'm sure that you should be good to go though.

An orange, tanish colour is actually good. Basically it mean's your motor's air/fuel mixture is excellent and it is combusting well.

They actually have only been in there for like 9 months they were just slightly used, better than the ones I had in there when I bought the car. Also, would I be losing some power if they were over gapped, and not all gapped to the same width?

If you have an aftermarket ignition on your car like MSD or Crane you can open up the plug gap's and it will improve the spark and Performance. If you have a stock ignition you should be running only what Ford recomends otherwise if you miss the proper gap setting by a decent amount it will hurt your power. The color on your plug's is fine, and I woudn't worry about it all. It's the color you want to see when you check your plugs. Unless it is really pure orange than there is something wrong. You want a tan/orange color.

I pulled one of mine the other day and saw that it was a "rust" color too. i was worried, but now that i read this post, i feel better. i have an msd 6al with a blaster coil and what not.
