Weird Problem....Drivers' seatbelt is wet coming out of the retractor!

Hey everyone.....very weird problem. This morning I went outside after it had rained all night and got in to drive somewhere. As I pulled my seatbelt out to put it on, it was almost dripping wet. I pulled more out from the top of the rear panel from the retractor and it was even wetter. There is no water in the car at all. The floor is completely dry and so is the trunk. Where would the water be coming from that is pooling where the seatbelt retractor is located? How come the car isn't wet anywhere else? PLEASE help me out. Thanks!

Looks like I'm going to have to. I'm just pissed that its outside of the warranty now. Oh well. Anyone else have any input?

No problem...its completely driving me nuts. It rained last night again and the belt is almost dripping wet this morning. If its not one thing...its just another. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the reply!

I think the only way for water to get to it would be if the "gutter" hapened to have a hole right over the B piller and it was dripping directly on the belt at a rate that it could suck it up and not get any where else in the car. That is an intresting one you got there though. At least its not a 3.73 or 4.10 thread.

That happens to my vert sometimes, i dont know where your seat belt retractor is located, but mine is right on the floor behind the seat, yours is probably in a similar spot. I notice that after a hard rain, the backseat floor will be a little wet, not much, but the seatbelt will be like soaked. So its probably just a little leak, its just the seat belt material absorbs more water, thats my theory on mine at least....

I have gotten water on the floor behind the dash with my 99 GT but this is really odd.

in the hard tops its about 3" or 4" from the top of the door. I dont see that it is a vert so that make it a bit more odd.

The exact same thing happened to me, everytime it would rain medium to hard my driver's side seatbelt would get soaked. If you look closely next time you should see water collecting on the inside bottom inbetween the plastic molding of the driver's side small back window, and being channeled right into the hole where the seatbelt retracts thus soaking the belt over time.

Short term solution - everytime it rains, jam a small towel inbetween the plastic of the bottom of the window and the top of the back seat side pannel. This will soak up the water before it runs into the seatbelt hole or leaks anywhere else.

Long term solution - I took it to the dealer and at 1st they replaced the weatherstripping around the window, but it still leaked the next time it rained. They had to actually replace the whole back window and that solved the problem. Luckily mine was under warranty so it didn't cost me a thing, it took a few days though.

I can look at my paperwork and give you the exact details of what they did if you would like me to.

This is happening to me now. Your solution was replacing the entire rear window? Not the little side window? Also had another problem. Water running out from under the glove box. The drain plug where you replace the cabin filter was clogged. I am springing leaks all over.
