Hi all. New to the forum. Used to own and race an 11 second 88Gt back in the 90s. Well after 7 years I am back in the game as I just bought a 89 LX 5.0. Once a 5.0 lover ALWAYS a 5.0 lover ( this is my 5th 5.0 to be honest LOL )

My question is, on a 15x8 rear Weld Draglite, what is the backspacing everyone goes with? They offer it in 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5. Which is the proper backspacing to fill the fender well without sticking out past the lip but completely filling the well?

thanks all, cant wait to spend the next few years talking with y'all. My goal is a 10 second lx I plan on a 331 stroker with either a supercharger or nitrous. Not sure yet, I went the nitrous approach wiht the 88 and think I might try the SC but I still bleed nitrous. LOL we shall see.

cheers all ( US NAVY Veteran )

I would go 5.5, thats what I am going with, look around for project deep freeze, they have a few good pictures of differant size weld wheels mounted. Oh, if you look to the left, at my avatar, that is the project deep freeze car with a 15X8 with 5.5 back spacing, and a 26X8 Drag Slick. Good Luck

I have 15x8s with a 5.5bs on my notch, and im running a 265/50/15 BFG, and they are about 1-1 1/4" in from the outside lip of the wheel well. But i only have about 1/2- 3/4" space between the tire and the inner wheel well. My buddy has a 5" backspace on his notch..i think he has centerlines though, and he runs 275/60/15 BRG drag radials, and he has about an inch of space between the tire and inner well, and the tire comes out about flush or maybe even a 1/4" past the wheel well. It really looks good though, it really fills it out.......thats what im steppin to next.
