Welding In Flowmaster 40 Series

They are best done by cutting off existing mufflers and taking the new ones and setting them into place and welding them onto the exhaust pipes. Some people will tend to use clamps but they do tend to leak and they just don't look like a good installation. Most decent muffler shops will install them for you at a reasonable cost (30-50 bucks) and do a good job. Hope this helps...2003Mach1 said:

If you want to weld them directly on without any adapters, make sure you get 2.25" Flowmasters and not 2.5"

I just wonder if you will have any popping noise kinda like backfiring, since you are going with the 2.25 in. I am thinking of doing the same thing weld ins instead of cat back to save money. A friend of mine has a 95 gt with 2.25 one chamber race flowmasters, his pops like crazy when he lets off of the gas.

i already have the mufflers in the trunk, i'll have to look and see which ones i have. i guess i wasn't aware they came in different inlet/outlet sizes.

I had some flows welded onto my GT after oh maybe 200 miles. Cost me $50 to have them put on. Wont be a lot louder than stock unless you have an aftermarket mid pipe.
my friend that has the single chamber flows 2.25 which pop when he lets off of the gas does not have a mid pipe all factory except the mufflers, this is the loudest stang I have ever heard, except for one running open exhaust. I guess it is because he has the single chamber race flowmasters. these things are tiny

I have the 2-chambered ones on mine (the Delta Flow I think) and I only get a very tiny pop upon decel, usually only on a downhill.

you know i think it's true. I have my 40 series flowmasters welded in, probably about 6 months ago, and they have seemed to get louder over time, although I want it louder than what it is. They don't seem to loud inside my stang but they do sound pretty good outside, but i still want louder, so i'm thinking about getting the whole American Thunder Cat back exhaust sytem and putting in a BBK H pipe and Full length headers, I just wonder if the Cat back by itself would make it louder like i want or if the H pipe and Headers would take care of that.
