How hard is it to weld???? I was talking to bimmertech and a few other t-56 owners, but bimmer told me i need to weld some supports to the crossmember. How hard would it be to learn??? Im defitnetly going with a t-56 the regular one(seems to have better gearing), so im gonna sell my guns except my habdgun and order it asap!!!

Ive done it on exhaust a few times and blew a hole right through it. There were so many patches when I was done it looked like that picture of me with the big black eye.
Its not hard to learn though. You just need someone who knows what they are doing to teach you.

I woulnt doubt it.

You should go to a trade school and take liek a week long crash course in welding.

well, if you have a welder and stuff just get a few pieces of metal (from the junkyard or whatever) and practice, practice, practice.

Yeah, practice is all you need. And I would get a wirefeed MIG. Much easier to learn on.

Start with thin metals like exhaust, and move up to 1/4" pieces of steel.

The first 4 hour class my welds didn't look to great but this week it went alittle better. I will take some pictures tomorrow and show your how its looking so far.

You just eliminated my market.... lol, im having second doubts on selling the guns, There all other my name. I'm kinda scared something happens and it comes back to me. Right now im thinking of getting a part time job to pay for the tranny. I gonna apply at checkers soon, and all that will be going into the tranny!!!! I think i will just go and buy a welder, i seen them at Home Depot pretty cheap. Then ill just practice. Plus i can weld on my egr line back when i got to emissions and have to put my cats back on.

Well how much do you want to spend on a welder? I got a basic MIG lincoln welder that welds with or without shield gas. It worked well enough to tack all my pipes for my turbo kit. I then had someone weld it nice and neatly for me. The welder i got came in a kit for 350 i believe. You can get cheaper ones off ebay that are straight electricity (no shield gas option) I wanted the option to add shield gas in the future if i ever get more into welding..

What you need to look for is how thick of metal the welder you buy will penetrate.

So once you find a welder that meets your budget pick it up and start practicing. Learning to weld wont be that tough, it will just take practice.
