I haven't been active on here in a few years now, but after finding out some info on my old 02 GT tonight, I felt compelled to make a return.

In the summer of 2011, I decided after having my 02 for 6 years that it was time for a change. I still had my 95 Mustang and I had decided it was time for an SUV so I ended up trading in the 02. I bought it in 2005 with 14,129 miles on it and barely put any miles on it for the first 4 years, until I moved to an area where I had a much longer commute. I ended up going from 60,000 miles in 2009 to 112,000 by the time I traded it in, and the rear end was going out in it. It just was time. I regretted trading it in from that day on, and have searched for it off and on for the last 2 years. Well today I decided to look it up and found out that it had just been totaled and had just been sold at a salvage auction. Even though the car is no longer mine it makes me so sad. This car was my baby and it is now gone. I really regret the decision I made 2 1/2 years ago.

Moral of the story : Don't be a moron like me, and keep your baby.

That's very true. I just wish I would have googled my VIN a month ago, and I probably would have bid on the car. Which would make no sense because I wouldn't be able to afford to fix it, but I would have been happy to bring my baby home! lol

Lol. It's truly a sad loss. Car looked clean. Maybe its time to get another in her memory?

I understand. People sometimes ask me why I've put so much money into my car and tell me that I'll never get that money back out. I simply ask them why they've put so much money into their son or daughter, they'll obviously never see a penny of it back. They look at me in complete confusion and say, "well because that's my child". I respond by saying, "Yeah well that 12 year old Mustang you over there......that's MY baby".

I'll never sell her.

I really want to find another Mineral Grey! I really wish I never would have sold it. But I made that decision, and it is done. I am just glad I have so many good memories in it. It is just crazy that I googled it and actually found this.

That sucks for sure. If me and the wife don't have a good year I will be giving up a mustang. I don't know if it would be the 72 in my avatar or the 02 gt kenne bell powered conv. I drive the 02 when ever I can. The 72 just sits in the garage most of the time but had it since 1993.

Yeah its a tough decision for sure! I know that I will always own my 95 no matter what. My Mom bought it when I was 9 and we have had it pretty much the whole time. Other than when we sold it to our friend, but I missed it so much that I begged them to sell me the Mustang back. After I bought it back I converted it to a 5.0. It may not be worth a lot to anyone else, but it is worth so much to me in sentimental value.

I just wish I had kept my 02. I have had so many fun memories in it!

Well maybe it's time for a 2014 mustang gt before the 2015 come out :/ I'm not a fan of the direction the mustangs are going in.

Not sure if I truly like the 2015s myself. I would have to see it in person. I thought about selling both picking up a 2014 and probally no car payment. It depends on what the future brings.

The price for the 2014 went way up from 2012. But the front end and back end of the 2015 is just not doing it for me. The side view is pure sex to me, love the Mach 1/fast back look, just everything else is not for me.

FYI- Sold at salvage auction doesn't mean dead. Looking at that car, it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up on the road again. I've seen worse rebuilt.

No worries, it isn't a particularly rare car, so you should be able to find an identical twin. After all, it is just a car, seriously. Be thankful for health and family.

Having said that, I would be pretty bummed too if tomorrow if my GT was taken out of commission. Still a great car which I truly enjoy driving. One of less than 1500 made in this color, but my particular example has quite a few miles by now (219k).

Sounds like you made the best decision you could at that time in your life to sell the car. I ended up selling my 88 mustang a couple years back and I owned her for 13 years. Just means it is time for a new project/toy, Maybe a 05+ or coyote 5.0 is in your future? I ended up getting a FFR instead.
