I went to the track tonight here is what I did.
60' -2.222.
330 -6.105
1/8 -9.103
MPH- 85.39
1000-11.625
1/4-13.60
MPH-109.0
This is with 14* of timing.
I then went to about 16* and got this.
60'-2.204
330-5.898
1/8-8.870
MPH-83.96
1000-11.350
1/4-13.49
MPH-105.89
Now the questions. Why did I run a better 1/4 mile time, but 3-4 mph slower. And why would I have a better mph with 14* of timing compared to 16*? Those were the only 2 runs I got. Now I am not sure if I should set the timing at 14*or 16* or maybe less than 14* Also this is with No traction street tires. Talk to me guys! :)

Id go with the timing set where you gained the highest mph. For now at least. Since this was the first time at the track with this car, what were your shift points. Did you spin bad out of the hole or did you launch at low rpm and ride the clutch.

Another thing, did you powershift or take it really easy. With your setup I bet you sould bang the gears and get some more time out of that car.

Cobra351, have you had the car tuned. Seems to me that I havent heard you talk about a tune, maybe that would help your combo. Maybe even a cam suited for a 351. Ive heard that TF stage 1 cam on the medium side for a 302 let alone a 351. I think those 2 things would really let the car scream.

Ditto on the cam! maybe a stage 2 or stage 3 (definately a custom grind) will be suited better for your 351.

Thanks for all the replies! I kinda rode the clutch outta the hole. Pretty much babied it till top of 1st gear, because of traction issues. I shifted around 5500rpms. I didnt speed shift, but didnt granny shift either. :) Kinda a happy medium. Would really like to get even a 12.99 on pure street tires. "Think it is possible?" If I can just get the 60' down a bit that would help me alot. I didnt really get to mess with F/P and timing like I would have liked, maybe next time. I was thinking about a custom cam. Maybe over next winter. Havent had it tuned, I did put it on the dyno but really did not do much except mess with putting in and taking out the diablo chip.Really thinking about the Tweecer when money permits.

I think with a little more practice you could see a 12.9 or better on street tires. I've had my combo together for 3 years now and I'm still tuning and tweaking it... and it keeps getting faster. So in other words, you have a lot left I think.
