Can someone give me a list of things i should go buy for a tune-up... Pepboys charges 89 dollars for their Platinum tune-up which they said i need because i have poor acceleration and fuel economy. Would it be chaper to do that or just go buy the stuff i need and have my neighbor do it for a couple of bucks.

Pepboys tune-up
Includes:
Replace Spark Plugs – OE Spec plugs platinum or standard
Proline Air Filter
Run Rite Fuel System Service
Battery and charging system analysis
Adjust idle speed and timing where applicable
PM Inspection – under hood
Inspect Tires and adjust tire pressure

Also someone said i might need an new o2 sensor which is like 40 bucks i think, but its not included in their tune-up

When I think of a full tune up this is what I think of.

Plugs
Wires
Cap
Rotor
Fuel Filter
Air filter (replace if it is a paper filter, clean it if it is K&N)
PCV Valve (also clean/replace the screen underneath)
Clean IAC valve
Clean EGR valve

All of that is simple and you can do it in your drive way in about 2 hours tops.

Pep boys tune up looks half assed to me, stick with Micheal Y's input, it will cost about the same and you'll learn wonders about your engine. Very Very easy to do with the manual and this site. Good luck and enjoy.

If it's been untouched for quite some time -- cap, rotor, wires, plugs, pcv valve, grommet, wire mesh oil trap, set the timing, O2 sensors, oil/filter, air filter, fuel filter, coolant drain and flush.

Yep...and clean your throttle body and IAC out (cylinder shape on throttle body)...just spray them down with carb cleaner...and check your throttle position sensor (TPS)...

If for some reason you take off your intake to change out the pcv valve/grommet/screen you could always take out your injectors and clean them out...and there is nothing wrong with checking for vaccum leaks or checking vacuum hoses for cracks or wear...

Good Luck with it..

Oh and don't get the platinum plugs...it is just a waste of money...
