What are some good 4.6 Heads

Have 01 GT and was wondering what are some good brands for aftermarket heads. Would porting current stock PI heads be just as good?

porting your current heads is about the only option, anything you buy 'aftermarket' will be the same thing since, as far as I know, there are still no real aftermarket heads available.

There are no modular after market heads. Only option is to get an after market P/P on stock heads. You can also do larger valves as a part of the P/P which helps on flow as well.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. Should I be able to get my heads ported and polished for under $1000?

I just got a quote back from here http://www.steenracing.com and it was very reasonable.

there is one aftermarket head and that is the svo. I don't know if that is considered aftermarket or not but the are supposed to flow really well and on the #'s I have seen the make more power than PI heads but the cost a lot more money. you best bet would be to get you heads P&P with bigger valves

But, he has an '01 and I believe that the SVO heads won't use a PI style intake. So then he would have to buy another intake too.

You could get a P&P for $1000 but I would get a valve job too.

he would have to buy the svo intake. they are supposed to be the best for all modular mustangs. I am going by what sean hyland has told me. they out flow the Pi heads in every direction but they are very expensive. it is like 1800 for the heads then you have to buy the intake which is like another 1200. that is why I said go with a P&P job on the Pi heads. that is what I would do.

I think the SVO heads can be port-matched to the PI intake. Don't know if there's enough metal to get a perfect match but Hyland's catalog seems to indicate this is possible.
