What are the minimum suspension mods you would do to help the car stick to the road better and corner better. Not interested in going to the track at this time.

I think it will depend on what the long term plan is for your car. Are you building a street/strip ride, road course, or just daily driver with an aggressive stance?

Opinions will be abundant but my 2 cents is plan first spend second.

Well there are a lot of companies offering lowering/handling kits. It might depend on your budget but I know of some guys using the Eibach kit with no complaints. Im sure that there are some owners here that could give you a better idea on which kits offer most bang for the buck.

In the end spend the money on the kits that are tried and true and save a bit longer if they are a bit more expensive.

I put in the entire FRPP kit (minus strut brace). When ever you change the ride height you need to change struts/shocks. Lowering springs alone will not maximize the desired result from your mods.

Absolutely the first thing- wheels and tires....better looking and better performance both straight line and cornering. Everything else is just a mod to better utilize the grip of your tires.
