What are these plastic things on the lifters? They resemble the dog bones, and the spider holds them down, plus there is a hole for the pushrods. I'm just wondering if these are okay or should I put the original dog bones back in?

Please ignore the bad picture quality. I compressed it a bunch to get it to fit on stangnet.

I am assuming they are there to keep the lifters in place when the engine was shipped. So, I took them out.

I would put the dogbones in. Plastic in a hot engine on moving parts doesn't sound like a good combo and by the looks not all that sturdy. I too think they were there for shipping purposes.
