I wanna get this battery for the car. Not only is it considered a strong battery, but it fits well with my engine "decor". I think Red is indeed the one that we get for our cars.

Anyone using it?

Thanks
RC

I have that same battery, picked it up from Advanced Auto for like 129 tax and core. I have had no problems from it but I have only had it 2 months. Well there was that one time the detail shop bumped my Bottle heater switch in the ashtray and I did not realize it but other than that it has been great.

RC, is that their deep cycle battery? If so you'll want to get a diff one. I'm pretty sure thats the right one for cars but just checking.

Yellow is their Deep Cycle.
Red is their Starter Battery
Blue is their Marine.

Pep Boys has them for $109 with NO COre.

Gonna get one tomorrow.
Thanks

are you still on aim? you said you were back but then it wouldnt do anything.
I believe the adapter that is on the top should fit, but like i mentioned earlier i think i had some spacer clip things from a different battery that was there that let it fit perfectly in the tray

I've had that Red top in my car for 3 years now. I't been surviving 120+deg temps, 6 months no starting, 9 days with the dome light left on (went on vacation oops), plus being in my trunk hidden in an aluminum box. Never one slow crank whatsoever. Truthfully mines not even an Optima though, it's an Interstate. They just put their sticker on it and sell it a bit cheaper.

i have had one in my car for about a year and i liek it a lot, when i put my car away for the winter i forgot to disconnect the battery :bang: do you think itll start right up in the spring?

stupid question but will the blue-top work in our cars, according to the website it seems to put out good CCA??? tx
I have owned a blue top for several years. I'm going to trunk mount it in my cobra, so I have not tried it in a mustang yet, but it worked well in two other cars, and it also had enough juice to jump start a car after sitting for 9 months without any charging.

They are damn good batteries and well worth the price. The blue top is not a deep cycle, it just has more CCA's and it was the same price as a red top. I just wish I new where to get one for $60 like svt5150.

I went today and exchanged the smaller one for the larger, 34/78 model (the one at the top of this thread). Bought the hold down bracket and J-bolts. Got everything done, and DAMN, the Postive cable wouldnt reach.

Had to cut off the cable where the fuse box lead and positive lead join. Then I had to go to Walmart and get a fuse box lead cable long enough. Also, the loom that the + wire is contained within was fastened down to the chassis down below. I had to lift that off so that I would have enough wire to stretch to the terminal. Never though that changing a battery could be so time consuming.

Anyway, here is the pic...I guess it's worth it to dress up the engine aside from the power of the battery.
