I searched but couldn't figure it out from just cam durations. I hear VT stage I's are, but im thinking comp xe262's are too? Also, i saw these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=330176778879&rd=1 and wanted to know if anyone is running them. They look like less duration than VT's so maybe smog legal? What i've really been looking for is some used cams cuz im trying to get more power then the PI cams on the heads i will be installing.
Can anyone post the PI cam durations?
Thanks, any opinions wlecome.

I just bought Turbo cams actually, but its going to be until after Christmas until I swap em out. PM me if your not planning on needed some for a while. Im also going to do before/after dyno pulls to see if they give me any power. I know my VT stg 1s make great power with boost.

And someone just posted up a "Pi swap writeup" thread and it lists the PI and NPI cam specs.

Yeah gotta love the stock 6-cat 96 H pipe. Anyone know if a 10-10.5:1 compression would hurt me in smog? I'm friends w/ the smog guy, buy he can't help fool the machine, only helps w/ visual.

high compression shouldn't affect smog. You should be fine with most mild cams (VT stg 1 etc). You better find a hook up, though...just in case it doesn't pass!

it also depends what state/test you have to pass. here in washington with OBll it is a scanner check checking for codes and 02 readness. you can make a pretty aggressive cam pass with the right tune. if you have to tailpipe probe then it's a different ballgame

i think you might just barely pass with VT S1 cams and stock H pipe. make sure they run the car hard on the dyno in freerun mode to get them heated up nicely before doing the test.

are vt stage 1 cams worth the extra dough over pi cams just to stay smog legal?

PI cams will keep you smog legal. But xe262ah's and VT stage 1's both give a pretty good boost in power. Even if i wasn't smog legal the only reason i'd consider stage II's is for the lope sound cuz you sacrifice a lot of torque and move your power range pretty high while i like my power to be rather low where my torque converter likes it. And the stage I's show good torque and horsepower gains, but it's hard to pass smog.

If you already have the "hookup", couldn't you hook the OBD2 up to your car, and stick the probe into another car's tailpipe? Would it check to verify that the rpms matched and such? I'm not 100% clear on what the process is for passing the tailpipe test, but it seems like something like that would be feasible.

i don't think the probe would allows the sam numbers (as in dile numbers from the 2nd car) for all 3 levels of rpm loads. Both cars would probabley have to be on the rollers. And these people run a business they can't really do this out in the open
