what clutch to buy

Hey,I am about to have to buy a new clutch soon because mine is going bad.I am not sure on which one to get.At first i was going to go with a spec but then i read some bad things about them.Is king cobra good?I havent heard very much about them.I guess i am gonna go ahead and get a lighter flywheel also.Any suggetions on what flywheel to get?Thanx for any advice!

I just had my centerforce D.F. clutch put in sun. And so far this thing is awsome. the pedal feels softer than stock, I couldn't believe it. I thought it was going to be a hard pedal .

I was told that spec clutch was pretty good

Any aluminum flywheel is going to be alot better than a stock one.

If you have the money, I'd get a centerforce IMO. I haven't heard anything bad about them either.

Ive had a King Cobra in my stang for about a month, and so far im delighted with it. Its a bit heavy on the pedal, so you should replace the stock clutch quadrand with a steeda quik release for easier driving, but as far as holding power, awsome. I powershift the hell out of it and it has never sliped.

since i need a clutch badly myself i was looking into this also. i had a king cobra on my old stang and i loved the abuse it could take but i didnt like the aggresive grip point. i heard horrible things about spec clutches so i think i am going to go with a nice centerforce set-up with all new components (flywheel, quadrant)

I just put in a Mcleod stage2 from MM... Great clutch.!!!

I'd buy a Mcleod Dual Friction clutch.

I have a Spec Stage II and I love it Specs seem to be hit or miss. Mine bites like hell though I need an adjustable cable and quadrant now though. Guess thats the next thing on the list.

I am having a king cobra clutch installed soon...should I also have them install the Steeda Quik release quadrent (red) also? Im guessing that the steeda quik release would make the pedal travel alot shorter in order to engage/disengage the clutch right? cause as of right now..with the stock qaudrent....i have to push the clutch pedal 3 quarters of the way down to disangage/engage the clutch

yeah i hated that too. if the person who instals it knows what they are doing, the pedal should engage almost at the top and not travel very far. As stated above, these clutches have a VERY agressive grip point so with the stock plastic quadrant i found the heavy clutch was causing it to bend and the grip point would change a bit...that combined with the long travel made it a bit difficult to drive around town. however, my car has 80k miles on it, im sure there are people out there with the stck quadrant that have no trouble. Im just sharing my experience...but for something like $40 extra, i would rather have peace of mind.

Thanx for all of the advice.I think i am going to go for the king cobra.Does anybody know how much torque they can handle?I am hoping for 300 at the wheels when i get done with evrything.I am on a tight budget right now,so what kind of flywheel do you think i should get for under like $200?
