I'm not sure what to do with the forest green(not sure of correct factory color name) paint on my 95 GT.This car has been my daily driver for about 6 yrs now comuting 85 miles a day into NYC through rain, snow, rock salt and everything else the New Jersey turnpike can throw at it.The paint is very dull with almost no shine at all.I tried using gritty compound followed by a mild wax and it didnt change anything except it made the pain feel smooth.I tried this all by hand and have no experience with a buffer.Should I just pay a detail shop a couple of hundred to buff it out? Also does anyone have pictures of sn95 cars with a car bra on the front?I was thinking of getting one for protection from rocks and stuff but havent seen any cars around with one on.Just wana make sure it doesnt look bad.

dont pay a detail shop my friend. start reading the forums on detailcity.com and autopia.com and learn how to use a random orbit polisher. go to lowes and buy a PC (porter cable) 7336 random orbit polisher for 100$. order a sonus pad kit from autogeek.net for 50$. your gonna need some chemical now:

1. abrasive polish (Menzerna IP, Poorboys SSR)
2. medium polish (Menzerna FP, Poorboys)
3. klasse all in one (cleaner, will offer some protection) awesome stuff btw.
4. sealant/wax
5. claybar

i posted the names of specific chemicals for illustrative purposes only, reading the forums listed above will give you all the info needed. good luck

Fixed A poter cable is a great investment for taking proper care of your paint. Here's what I would try
wash
claybar
rewash
Klasse all-in-one
Polishing compond (poorboys ssr2.5/www.poorboysworld.com)
lighter polishing compound *cough*poorboys ssr1*cough*
Paint sealer or carnuba wax.

If your not sure or trust yourself with polishing your car with a buffer (porter cable 7424) then it may be a good idea to pay a real detailer in your area. Then continue to care for your paint yourself, go to www.autoppia.org forums and go to the "Professional Detailers" forum and start a thread asking for any detailers in your area. Seeing as these guys(<-autopian) have a rep to protect as Professional Detailers they WILL do a good job or refer you to a good detailer in your area.
