Are you 100% sure you want to go down this road?

What do you estimate you will spend to get this project up and running?

We all guilty of that tho haha

That’s why I asked above what is his goals with the car, just to get it running and driving (no matter the condition), fix it up enough to sell, just to have a project car to tinker with?

Well... You gotta start somewhere.

Let's start by getting all the "crap" stripped out of the interior. Leave the driver's seat, steering components, and center console as they are for the moment.

Get the entire engine and transmission and driveshaft, out of the car. Mark the driveshaft with paint before you disconnect it from the rear so that it it goes back in the same. Get an engine stand.

Is thing and auto or manual?

Start looking at these and asking questions as they come up:

You're going to need to clean and prep that block.

I hope you didn’t pay much for it. My advice is to strip anything that’s good and sell it. Then scrap the car. Yay the money you make from selling parts and buy something a little better.
Sorry

You need a solid game plan on what you want to do. Do you want to keep it as a project car or just get it running to sell? You can buy almost every replacement part and restore it but it all depends on the time and budget you have.

Just stop. If you're on here asking where to start, then you're in over your head. You really need to be an expert on these cars to take that project on, and I've saved a couple myself, but I'd pass on that one. It's not a Cobra R or Ferrari. Unless you were born in it, and have all of your best childhood memories with it, skip this one, my friend.

Just start with a clean car. You'll save yourself tons of time & money.

That car looks rough but isnt too bad. No rust in the strut tower frame rails. Front seats from any mustang up to 2004 will bolt right in. The dash and door panel parts that are bad or missing can be bought. The front nose can be found or purchased new. I know there are planty of old ford 302s running around in Mexico. It wouldnt be hard to put one in there....especially a carbureted one. The transmission will work with a v8. Just need a special pilot bearing for the back of the crankshaft . Federal Mogul # 202- SS. Seems easier to get 5.0 parts there than turbo 2.3 parts. May be able to sell the turbo parts to someone with a 4 cylinder Ford Ranger truck. The body alone without rust or major dents sells for good money. If it were me I'd start with removing everything and cleaning the car. Then I'd throw some bodywork and paint on all the metal.

It looks like it was originally 4 cylinder with the smaller 7.5 rear end. V8 mustsngs have the bigger 8.8. Both will work behind a V8 though. The transmission and rear end won't be as strong as a V8 one but should be fine if you don't have drag slicks on it or speed shift it banging gears. ( I'm a weird person that actually prefers a 4 cylinder T5 over the v8 one ). They've never let me down but I know how to drive them.

A 4cyl lx swapped to gt body kit or gt roller with a 2.3 swapped in it? Looks like a 90-93 lx that's been threw way too many hands all ready, with the GT body kit swap and mismatched interior. I Would try to find a wrecked but running donor 2.3 car or clean the chassis up and engine swap it if it where mine. As is, looks like a money pit.
