I cant decide what to do with my 99 gt. I was thinking about taking my engine out and getting a 281 to 302 stroker kit. Now what should I do cause I can get a 99 cobra engine and rebuild that what am I looking at money wise. Should I stay with my 2v or should i build me a 4v. I ve heard different things people say its cheaper to build the 2v. But I dont care about the money I just want to be able to make the most out of it. cause after that Im thiking about getting a turbo for it or supercharger dont know. What do yall think.

you can make plenty of power on a 2V. there is a guy at the local shop pushing 740 on his street tune on a 2V TT car.

i'd keep the 2v, leave the displacement alone, forge the internals and throw tons of boost at it

I would go with a built 4v and and throw one or two turbos at it. Turbos are the way to go. If money was no object that is what I would do.

no reason for a 4v, ask cobra killer. less moving parts and slightly more boost and you make the same power.....for less money

If you want the most out of the car and price doesn't matter you just answered your question and 4v is the answer. In stock trim no Ford 4.6/5.4 2v head will flow what a stock 4v head will and also you get a safe 7,000 rpm redline out of the 4v heads in stock form.

+1, a stage 3 ported 2v head still doesnt flow as much as a stock 4v head....

i dunno, a ported FRPP head flows 235in/210ex. cfm out of one valve - that's pretty damn good. What does the twin port B head flow at?

i would just rather go 2v with boost, just my preference. the biggest pain in the ass with mod motors is they are the same size as big blocks. then add 4v heads and it gets retarded. throw a couple of 57mm turbos on a built block and see what the 2v can do. look at hot's car. just think if he could crank up the boost.

If you're staying blown, a 2V will do just fine. With the right heads and cams, blown 2Vs can make as much power as their 4V counterpart, plus it's the cheaper route. Some KB 2Vs are putting down ridiculous #s. Mine are actually low compared to some other KB GTs Tim has tuned.

If you go turbo, then 4V is the way to go. 4Vs can make up to 200+rwhp more than a turbo 2V at the same boost level.

unless you have enough money to spend on a cobra short block or forged rotating assembly + all the FI needs - there's no real reason to go 4v since on a 2v and 4v you have the same limits as far as rotating assembly
