Hey guys just wondering what you guys think on the trade I am considering?
Ive got a 67 coupe project car that I'm considering trading for an 84 coupe.
This will be an even swap as well

67 auto 289 everything thing is there just been disassembled
84 auto 306 "nothing wrong with the car besides some paint fading"

Thought it would be cool to get everyones input,I may even post in the classic section as well. Anyway thanks in advance.

John

Thats really a tough call. Obviously the 67 needs a lot of work to be nice. Your gonna have more in it than what its worth anyways. Pristine conditon on both obviously the 67 is worth more, but if you dont wanna do all that work to the 67 i say do it! Or see how much the guy wants for it, then u can have both..

Depends. I have a 66 Chevelle project as well as my four running Mustangs, 79 to 08. It is a resto/fix up/cruiser project vice a go fast project.

The 67 has the potential to be much more valuable that the 84, and will hold value better.

For cruising and cool factor, the 67 is it. Minor issue is that mods to the 67 are unlimited, whereas the 84 may require emissions at some point, if that applies.

For inexpensive go fast, and ease of mods, with no worries about hurting a priceless relic, the 84 is the way to go. I actually got my 82 ($50 parts car originally) because the 65-68 Mustangs that I wanted were much more expensive to start with.

I guess, if I had a usable 67 coupe in hand, I would keep it forever. That's how I feel about the Chevelle.

depends what you want in your life right now, seems like a fair trade though with the condition of your car

At least with the 67 there is a chance u would get ur money back if u ever decided to sell it. Putting money into a foxbody might make it faster and look better but u can kiss that money goodbye if u ever decide to sell it.

To each his own.
But I'm a Fox guy. I would do it in a heart beat.

I'd love to have an '84 coupe with a 306.

So, your saying that a fox is going make more money then the '67 if/when it's completed? I'd like to SEE that!

You're such a **** disturber! HAha! I love the 4 eyed devotion though.

If you can't afford to do the 67 and probably never will in the forseeable future then the swap may not be such a bad idea. Really it's up to you.

^exactly thank you. The value is increasing and money is not being "wasted" in the same way it used to be.

THANKS

Thanks for everyones replies. It is really cool to hear everyones opinions. It has been so long since Ive had a mustang on the road and have really grown to love the fox body. Every time I get an Email from someone interested in trading I get excited that I may get to drive one again. I would love to have my 67 running and restored again, but right now it is just not an option for me. I thought there may be someone out there with a fox coupe that would want to trade for a classic project but no luck right now. Have had a few guys interested but all the trades have fell thru. Thanks again
