On March 10 my father and I are tearing into my car and rebuilding the motor. The old pinging issues seem to have done some damage to the pistons, created high spots, and the issue persists, at least I hope that's it. We won't really know until we tear into it. But I found aluminum chunks in the oil at the last oil change. Not good.

Anyway, while we have the motor out I also want to replace the clutch, upgrade the fuel system, go with a smaller pulley, and probably put in a coilover setup.

So what do you guys recommend for the following:

1. What brand pistons (if that's the issue)? I was thinking Manley dish. Anything better?
2. I'm going with an 03 cobra tank and pump. What's a good source?
3. What clutch would work best with close to 600hp on a T-56?
4. Can 42lb injectors handle 600hp?
5. What is a good coilover setup for an 02?

Thanks for any help guys.

Hey Mike, Sorry to hear about your cars Engine! Well, at least you'll be able to make it stronger and better then it was before!! I don't know if you ever have driven a car with a Mcleod Twin Clutch like Robert's S351 Coupe has in it but its an awesome feeling, Functional, has holding power and can handle the HP and Torque! It's a little pricey, but well worth it! Does this mean we won't see you at Knotts this year????

Thanks for the reply Todd. I ended up going with a Centerforce Dual Friction kit. Got the cobra pump and fuel tank on the way as well, but still can't decide if I want to go with the coilovers now or not. If I do I'm leaning toward the MM coilover kit.

Whatever I need up doing, I plan on being at Knott's this year.

Where did you get the cobra tank from?

Definitely go with the coil over kit from MM, it is a night and day handling difference. The only permanent modification you have to make is the extra hole for the 4-bolt caster camber plates.
You can use your Saleen/Bilstein front shocks, but I had to upgrade and buy MM's rear bilsteins due to the fact that they had a beefier bottom mount.

Good luck with the ugrade/rebuild!

I got my forged block from DSS Racing. It's holding up just fine and rated to 700 HP

I got the cobra gear from Liberty Ford back east. I don't have the contact information with me here but I'll post it for you next week, unless someone else here as it. Paid 830 for both the pump and tank with shipping. Great deal. Everywhere else was asking 600+ for the tank alone.

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
