I can't find a new mitt, and don't want to scratch my car. What all do you wash with? I have an auto zone, napa, etc in town. My car has no scratches or swirls, I have always used a lambs wool mitt. There must be something else that works as well. I'm still having good luck with the mr. clean washer. Man, it is finally nice enough to wash my car!
thanks all,
Doc

I just bought an Armor All microfiber wash mitt and microfiber drying towel since my car was repainted. 6 weeks later there are no swirl or scratch marks on my car...yet.

I've been using a sponge from Target that has microfiber on one side and some kind of poylester mesh on the other. Most of my mileage is interstate driving and the mesh does a great job of removing bugs without scratching the paint. No problems with swirl marks either, but on a white car its hard to tell. I use a silicone blade for initial water removal, followed by an Absorber synthetic drying towel. It's the only brand I've found that doesn't leave streaks or lint, about 7 bux at Walmart.

The microfiber is the way to go and like JimWhite said the mesh is great for bugs.

I'm pretty sure NastyStang has a good thread on car care; he details high end cars for a living. I just take mine to a self serve car wash, wet it, use my own $5.00 wishbone sponge, wash it off with the "spot free" water, then dry it with the Absorber chamois. My car is garaged at home and work so I just use a spray wax (lazy I know). My car is Vista blue btw.

i usually use a microfiber mitt, with an absorber, i've tried quite a few chamois and this seems to be the best bang for the buck for life, and water absorbed.

tonight i picked up a lambs wool mitt, because this is what we use at work, and they didn't have any microfiber ones, and mine has been getting slightly dirty, so its now on rims and exhaust duty, as with my old absorber. it still works great, but it just has gotten a little dirty.

washed my car tonight with the two bucket method, meguiars nxt soap. dried it with the absorber, tomorrow wake up bright and early and start detailing the inside, clay barring and putting wax, glaze, and polishing a few scratches i've gotten from driving it every day. also detailing under the hood and the jams.

would like to pull my wheels off and buff the crap out of them too tomorrow.
