It stands for "performance improved". 99 & up GT's have the PI parts; intake manifold, heads, & cams. The PI motors breathe better than the non PI's. Thus, more power.

It should defonantly be on there, but I dunno, this forum has been weird. Sometimes I think it's being hosted by multiple servers at the same time, I dunno
Like, this username should have well over 3-400 post by now, and I have two other usernames I use mostly in the 5.0 section, all about the capri, that are over 700 and 900. One is like 2200 but I stopped using it when I sold the car. 2.3 that got 337k miles on the stock long block, no head gasket replaced, intake never even off the car, in family since new. We eventually got a new longblock from advance auto for like 1k tho. Ran good, but cheap, as it was back 20 years ago, I'd hoped they'd offer some kind of DOHC or even SOHC version of an engine for it...but, nada. Now it's completely converted to the 2.3 turbo coupe setup from the thunderbird, woot! Tho I never see it or drive it, ehh once, nice, so light, spun first then would swing the a$$ end around a little in second and grab third and gone. The weight advantage with tons of boost on a new engine is tha bomb. Woot for handicap racing. Jeez I'm damn tired...I must go to sleep, 5 hour commute to south jersey tomorrow. Hopefully the car is finally what I'm looking for. Very low mileage, 5200mi, '04 Cobra, front, rear, pass side hit. I'm gettin cheap, no pulley's touched. I'm raping the car, then parting the interior and fuel system, misc others, I may make half my money back, will need for labor and tuning. Yay. Wish me luck, everyone!

actually in Ford, "PI" stands for "Police Interceptor"

now the "PI" for the heads is actually wrong and was mis-quoted in the rag-a-zine's way back in 1999. the better heads were originally called "Horsepower Improved" now everyone use the PI acroynm for "Performance Improved"
