What does the black knob do?

I just bought a new IAC valve. I am about to install it. I am wondering what the black knob on the valve does? I don't want to install and find out that I have to adjust something that I don't know how to do. Anay information is good information.

Good question. I messed with mine not thinking when I did the intake swap. What does that "black knob" do?

i dont think it does anything. when i put mine on i started playing with it while the car was idling and it didnt do anything

I started playing with mine on the one that is on my car. It is the old one and the one that is acting up. I don't know what it does. I guess I will just put the new one on and hope for the best. It has to do something though. It won't be there just for looks.

It is a breather cover with a tiny filter underneath. I took an old one I had apart.
