What fuel pump to get??

I have a similar problem. My engine needs more fuel and the pump is on its way out. Will I have a problem if I go with a larger pump than currently needed. I am looking at Aeromotive for any/all of my fuel system needs.

but back to what i was saying, with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a set of 24lb injectors would i have more problems if i go too big? I would like to buy a pump once and have enough dinosour juice to accomidate it in both set ups.

I think the stock is a 155GPH unit?? I went up to a 190GPH which I believe is the next step up...190 will suffice for most mods no problem...if a blower or such is in the future, then most go a 255...Mines a Walbro....although the stock unit I took out was also. I would throw a new fuel filter in to boot...you may loosen some junk up inside the tank..if it hasn't been changed in some time, i would do that for sure.
The process is pretty straight forward..got a Haynes manual?? follow that and youll do fine on removing the tank...the pump will have directions to, either way your covered...only biggie is cutting your stock wires on the assy and crimping in a new connection...
Spray the filler tube with WD-40 or rub some Vaseline around that big gasket at the tank...it'll help keeping it from tearing and possibly leaking afterwards..if it looks spanked out or dry rotted, get another before your re-assy it...you'll be thankful for no leaks when you top off the tank...
Mine cranked for yrs like that...the new ones an instant fix...its sweet having it light right off...

Be careful putting the sock on and fitting it into the valley inside of the tank. Look down in there before attempting to insert the pump and get a good look at the inside set-up, it will make it much easier to get it in there. Al you need is the tool for the disconnecting of the fuel lines and use wood to tap the lock ring (no sparks) that holds the pump in. I replaced mine with a Walbro 255 when I was NA.

When you replace the fuel pump will your fuel pressure go up? Do you need an AFPR?

I don't know but my 95 did it too. And I had a Gss 340 255lph high pressure intank and a T rex pump. My 92 does it a bit. I would think one way to see if it's your pump would be to turn the key back and forth a couple times to cycle the pump a couple times before you actually turn the car over. If the problem goes away then I could possibly see the pump causeing the issue

No it won't and no you don't need an AFPR.

I believe the stock pump is 90 lph.
