i dont think you will get many responses because nobody really has any experience or knowledge about the difference between those two gear ratios. your better off asking a profesional who has a masters in the subject.

Stangman i see you are new - do a search. You will find a million gear threads. Get 4.10s or 4.30s.

4.10s. And guys be easy on him. Remember, if people didn't ask the same questions over and over again, there would be no new posts....and no forums.

so true.

i like my 4.10s, but on the highway im usually cruising around 2300-2700 rpm in 5th gear, depending on my speed. 3.73s dont pull quite as hard as the 4.10s (yes, ive driven both) obviously. 4.10s can actually help with gas mileage around town, bc you're able to use a higher gear at a lower rpm than you would with stock gears. however they cost you a bit on the highway.

my vote goes 4.10s.

best et 4.10's or 4.30's. best milage stock. comprimise if you drive alot of freeway or plan on traping over 115 in the future 3.73's.

there is no one answer if you search you find 100's of threads but these are really the bottom line choices.

here is 4th gear with each gear.

rpm 3.73 4.1 4.3
500 10 9 9

5600 115 104 99
5700 117 106 101
5800 119 108 103
5900 121 110 105
6000 123 112 107

so as you can see with stock tire an limiter unless you trap over 107 4.30's are the best gear for et. also if you ever plan to really mod your car if you can't trap over 112 with 4.10's unless you bump the limiter up or run a taller tire as you don't want to use 5th in the 1/4 mile.

defiantly go with the 4.10s, dont mess around with 3.73s, you will just want more and spend twice the money.

i guess all these guys are recomending 4.10's due to the wieght of your and basically all 4.6L cars. thats what i am assuming. If you had a fox i would say go for 3.73's. i would not go to 4.30's after all how much drag racing are you actually going to be doing as apossed to daily driving. I have been in cars with 4.10's and yes they pull much harder then my car with 3.73's. so due to the extra wieght i would say go with 4.10's to help multiply your torque to get your car to launch.
