What gives with these codes?

Okey so I bought one of those digital code readers finally. Got code 87 (fuel pump primary circuit fault) and code 95 (fuel pump secondary circuit fault). Year ago my fuel pump went. So I paid the shop to replace the fuel pump & fuel filter while they were down there. If it's one thing I'd rather not do is the fuel pump - pita. So my car runs fine from then on, but the codes are still reading. I tried resetting it with the code reader but it doesn't want to erase. I know if something happened in the past the computer remembers it, but shouldn't I be able to reset/erase it? Is there something I'm over looking?
 
There is no clue as to the year of your car. Ford changed the wiring several times from 79-93. That's why it is a good idea to use the sig under the user control panel (User CP) option. It allows you to post your car year & mods, which help greatly when troubleshooting things. No, it is not there for us to snoop and see any "Secrets" you have hidden away under the hood. Be a good stangnetter and update you sig for future reference & don't keep us guessing.

The following is a fault description for 87-90 model years. The 91-93 models used a different wiring scheme & colors, but the same fault code. The problem didn't change, only the wiring.

Code 95 - the 95 code is because at one time or another the fuel pump relay hiccupped and didn't provide power the pump when the computer told it to run. Sometimes this is a one time thing, other times it is a no run or runs poorly condition.

Using the diagram, check the red/black wire from the fuel pump relay: you should see 12 volts or so. If not, check the inertia switch: on a hatch it is on the drivers side by the taillight. Look for a black rubber plug that pops out: if you don't find it, then loosen up the plastic trim. Check for voltage on both sides of the switch. If there is voltage on both sides, then check the Pink/black wire on the fuel pump relay: it is the power feed to the fuel pump. No voltage there, check the Orange/lt blue wire, it is the power feed to the fuel pump relay & has a fuse link in it. Good voltage there & at the Pink/black wire, swap the relay.
