Add me to the growing list of Mazda 6s recommendations. I prefer the V-6, manual and the hatchback option for utility. The Mazda 3s is also a fun 4banger with the right amount of good handling/features and quality. In the 25-30k range, I would also put the Acura TSX with the 6 sp. manual also on the short list. Honda quality, excellent resale value and also has that fun to drive quality in a daily driver. Looks great in black too.

I would get a 05-06 Subaru WRX they are AWD and get good MPG.
They are also pretty quick and great around corners like mountains.
I think they are the perfect car for a daily driver.

97-01 hyundai tiburon. Sporty, good mileage, dependable, I like the looks of the older tiburons. I bought one for my younger brother for his first car, unfortunately, that was two years ago and he still has no job OR license. Maybe I'll make it my DD and slap some NAWZ on the stang.

Mazda is nice. I personally would be looking at a used bmw 330xi, could prolly get an 02 in your budget. Audi s4 used also may fit if you shop around enough. I think if you have a mustang as one car, having something luxurious as a DD is a nice compliment.

they can get pricey with options, but a mazda 6 V6. FWD is always fine in the snow, and they still have some sport and comfort to them.

Thats what I bought, I bought the Mazda 6i with no options other than auto. It still has power everything, including automatic down and up windows, CD player, 160hp 4 banger, trunk pop, keyless entry, etc and all the standard stuff. Huge trunk, lots of storage, plenty of pep, tons or room inside. I love mine.

I get 24-26 mpg with the 4 cylinder mixed and 30 highway. Ride is smooth, handles very well for a cheapo fwd car.

And the best part is I got it for 16,500, sticker was 20,500. It was about the same price as a focus with equal options and a helluva lot more car.

I also liked the Mazda 3 but they are the same price as the 6 and I use if for taking out customers so the extra room is nice.

I wouldn't recommend the Mazda 3 if you are over 5'10" tall. The Mrs. has one and the driver leg room sucks for me. I just drove from Cleveland to Atlanta, and my right leg was cramped. Hard to argue with 32 mpg while averaging 80+ mph the whole way though.

Yeah, and the new one coming out is called "Edge".

But cars are Focus, Fusion, Five Hundred, Freestyle, Freestar and trucks are F150, F250, F350.

I bet the marketing department is pissed that the Mustang is still a best seller and they can't rename it!

I agree with LI98 about the TSX. Wifey has one, 6speed and 200 horses. Also I would put in a subaru impreza rs or wrx. They are pretty good looking cars. STI and EVO's are always suggested, but for a every day car, not for me. Plus with a STI or EVO ill be racing every day on the freeway, that wouldnt be good.

One of my friends has a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX and he loves it.
It gets good MPG,great around the corners, and is pretty quick too.
It's a great car for the money!

I'm taking this post to my Marketing professor tomorrow (Maymester final exam ) and see what she thinks. She has worked with some really well known corporations (not Ford) but her take will be interesting.

My brother bought a Mazda Protege a couple years ago with a Tectronic? shifter in the automatic. He loves it. If you get a Mazda, you may want to consider the Tectronic shifter if it is still available since it is a handy feature when a little extra performance is needed.
