And I'm not sure if I am crazy or not, but longer studs would cause the wheel to not go on tight (with certain lugs, like his)

If the studs weren't going to work on your car they should have never touched it in the first place. You should hold them liable especially for putting studs back on your car, that in their opinion, would not work. Being that the studs snapped I'd be willing to bet anything that they were over torqued. A lot of shops usually just torque the **** out of the lugs with an impact.

I agree with Procharger GT, that if the studs were wrong, then they should have told you had actually put it in writing. Kind of like when you get your brakes or tires checked and the shop recomends replacement and you deny it. If its on paper the shop is safe, they warned you.

Since the shop did not do that, I would go after them in court. Add it up and rape the shop bare since they risked your life.

- Money spent on original work
- Money / Time lost on the day accident
- Money / Time spent on renting a car
- Money / Time spent on getting car fixed
- Risk of life, if you are the head of a household (Dad) even better.

I think you could probably get all the costs of the car paid for, the time you lost from work, and I say atleast $10-$20K on just their mistake that risked your life.

Take half that money and find a new shop and do some more work on it.

This same thing happened to me last October. Three weeks after the shop put on the 17 x 10.5 bullit wheels, my rear drivers side fell off. I felt a vibration and started to slow down, then i heard it break off. The shop did not want to take the blame, but eventually they ended up paying about half and giving me store credit for the rest. Later i hear that this has happened before and that you have to retorque some of these wheels after a couple of days once they are first put on.
