what is a 65/66 8inch rearend worth?

What is an 8inch rear end worth? Drum to drum. Unknow ratio. C7 casting on the center part. (aka 67 or any possible gears are in it).

Light rust on it. The car it was on had some crazy big (wide) tires on it, so it likely has been abused. (The car was cut in half when I saw it, so rolling condition unknow.)

I am in the rust belt.

Also, what are the gears in it worth?

It's worth whatever it'll bring at the scrap yard.

Nothing. I couldn't give my old 8" rearend away when I swapped it out for a 9".

Ok... then where can I find a decent one? I won't even tell you what the guy wanted for it.

If you were closer, the 8" I pulled from my 77 Comet would a fit. Easiest 8" to find is one from a late 70's Granada/Monarch. And if you're lucky enough you'll stumble onto a 9" from one of these. Especially an 80 model.

He is right about the granada rear, especially the ratio. Spring centers are identical, and I didn't even need an adapter to hook up the brake lines. Hardest part was extending the E brake cables, and that wasn't difficult. The rest was simple R & R.
