I see people on here that say they have removed the air silencer. What is it and should i think about removing mine? Are there any gains or reasons to do it?

It's a little "baffle" type thing that is on the airbox where the opening for the air filter is.
Mine was already off when I bought the car, so I'm not sure how it comes out, but they say it's worth a couple HP.

It's a rubber boot that comes out of the air box and runs into the fender. It's a bottleneck compared to the opening without it. Removing the air silencer is one of the first mods most mustang guys do. Go out and buy yourself a K&N filter, and when you're changing the filter it's not that much more to take the air silencer off. My car felt a little more power (and I mean a little, don't expect too much from this mod) gain going up hills as the car could breathe better.
