I hear everyone talk about this 3G alt conversion. Which one is the best to buy? I want to put it on my 93 GT cause at a idle the gauge drops if i have the lights on. I only have the stock radio for now but dont want to put any thing in till i get a new alt. I see the ones 5.0 resto has but they have several which one would i need? Or is there some thing else i can do?

The 1994/5 Mustangs came with a 3G 130amp unit. With this one you can run an overdriven pulley from FFI or ASP.

Purchased mine from www.pa-performance.com Don't forget to upgrade your wireing to 4ga with a fuse. You can find cheaper places and ebay sometimes has some good deals so you might want to check there.

I just bought one for a 99 V6 mustang, $130 at C.A.P. lifetime warranty and puts out 155 amps. Harness plugged right in, and only had to cut the bracket a little but to make it sit flush. Pulley is fine works great.

What about the 4 gauge cable? Did you use one?

I got my 130 amp from a 3.0 Taurus. No problems at all with it.I also found, that the yellow 4 gauge wire that goes from the alternator to the fuse box is a perfect fit from my 3G to my sylenoid.I did have to cut the rest of the Taurus harness apart, but it only took about 2 minutes.Free at the boneyard.I like free.

Has any body ever bought a alt from 5.0 resto? They have a couple different ones listed.

Another option if money is tight is to hit the J/Y for a 3G. Dont upgrade the alt in any shape or form without upgrading the wiring. I piece mealed mine and it was about 25 bucks.

FWIW, if you envision a monster elec cooling fan or other big draws, something more like a 160 amper might be good.

Good luck.
