Its seems to me that alot of brands of car wax say there the best but lets ask the masses?

Most people will say Zaino, preceded by clay barring. I've never tried Zaino, but I'm sure it's good. I've always had good luck with Meguiars cleaner wax.

what do you mean by best?

longest lasting? best beading? best shine?

i personally use Meguiars gold class. i'm goin to try the nxt wax before winter.

well if you really wont the best the wolfgang fuzion is where its at, but its like $175, so thats prob out of your price range, but i would go with poorboys natty blue, it better than anything you can get over the counter. especially if you have a black car

I like a wax called "Ice" made by turtle wax I think. I started using it recently , It's not carnuba based more of a synthetic polymer so it doesn't leave white residue on plastic. In fact it works really well on plastic and protects it as well as the paint.

I used carnuba based waxes in the past. Meguir's Gold really looks good after waxing but doesn't seem to last quite as long as the cheaper stuff like Kit wax.

I just got done detailing mine on Tuesday. I clay barred it, polished it, waxed with Eagle One Nanowax, then went over it once with Turtle Wax T-470 Ice detail spray. I've never used the Nanowax so, I have no idea how long or how well it lasts. The last time I detailed the car was the day after Xmas last year. I used Wolfgang paint sealer. With the occasional "wax as you dry" sprays, it still held up after nearly 9 months.

I don't know what the best wax is. I haven't tried them all! I use Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax in paste form.

I've had great results from Meguiar's NXT 1.0 (haven't tried 2.0) and Klasse AIO.

Both are extremely easy to use and I pour a capful into my spray mixer when hosing down the car.

My idea of "best" protectant is something that lasts the longest to protect the paint. I'm not interested in the deepest showroom quality shine because 1 week of driving in SE MI will cause a buildup of dirt, roadkill guts, bugs, bird poop, and rain drops/mud.

has anyone tried the new vodoo stuff put out there by dale jr.? I use maguiar's gold and haven't had a problem but I have not used anything else.

Is there any wax or detail product made just for black cars?

I use it on my daily driver 2004 Saturn all the time:

You might be asking yourself how could car wax possibly cost that much? To start with, the wax is formulated to match the exact color and type of paint the buyer specifies upon order. Second, each set of two wax jars comes with a certificate of authenticity completed by an individually named and numbered plaque (fairly gimmicky if you ask us).

Get prepared to toss it to your personal valet or another servant. Because, if you’ve got the funds to drop $2,750 on wax, there’s no reason for you to be waxing your own car.

Meguiars #16, Poorboy's Natty's Red, Pinnacle Sovereign, Chemical Guys Pete's 53, Chemical Guys 5050 are my more top end waxes.

Zaino makes some decent stuff. There is a lot better stuff out there but what really makes me mad about Zaino is that they purposely design their product to NOT work with other products. It's ridiculous. Anyone doing a IAW before waxing or their LSP?

I agree with you and this stuff is also a good stain preventer imo. Makes it easy on us old folks.

I think I've used them all...(I've had a long history of black cars so I've been forced to become a self-proclaimed expert at auto detailing).

I think Zaino looks the best; it's expensive and difficult to apply (because as nastystang mentioned it's not compatible with regular wax). I'd probably use it exclusively if I lived in a sunny climate and/or didn't have a black car. Because I live in Oregon where it rains all the time and my car is black, I find its level of paint protection bad. It doesn't really stay looking good or last past one washing or rainy week in my opinion.

Mother's is the best for a long lasting shine and protection in my opinion. It doesn't look as good as Zaino initially but it stays looking good longer and protects from dirt induced swirls and surface scratches better. I try to wax my cars with Mother's at least once before the bad winter weather sets in. Overall, Mother's products (clay bar, pre-cleaner, liquid and paste wax) are my favorites due to a good balance of appearance and lasting protection.

That new Turtle Wax "Ice" is good stuff (kind of like a poor-man's Zaino) and I really like the way the "Liquid Clay Bar" works to remove minor surface scratches and road debris. Like Zaino though, it doesn't really last a long time and/or add a protective coat to the paint like a pure carnauba wax does. It's really easy to apply though and looks good so when I'm lazy in the summer months I'll use it between washings.

Mequiar's makes good prep products (scratch-X) but I don't like the way their waxes go on (streaking and swirling).

Zymol is OK for some level of protection and ease of application but like Mequiar's I've had problems with it streaking and looking uneven on a black car.

Just my 2 cents...

Really? .. like what? I have to say that most of the products you listed are merely OTC products. Talked about Meguiars not having a good wax, etc. Have you ever used M16? It will blow ANY product that Zaino has out of the water ...

Mothers as the best combination? Once again, compared to what? There are TONS of products out there on the market that blows Mothers out of the market. Meguiars is about the only mainstream company that puts out products OTC that has a TON of great products, mostly in their D-Line but some of their A-Line is fantastic as well. Poorboy's, Chemical Guys, Merzena polishes, etc all make products that are leaps and bounds better.

Turtle Wax ICE is laughed about among the detailing community. Come on ... A liquid clay bar? That scheme has been around since the 80s ... It's nothing more than a cleaner wax. It's not even on the same level as a true clay bar.

Don't take this as a bashing or the like because it's not intended for that. I'm just trying to clarify some information that I feel needs it.
