I went to the Brenspeed website ( http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/airkittuner.html ) interested in purchasing a tuner. They have several packages ranging from mid $500 to high $600. Most of the claimed HP gain numbers seem to be the same. What's the difference in these different packages? I see JLT, C&L, BBK, WMS...... Is there really a difference?

You're going to get many opinions but not a lot of hard numbers unless you're willing to do some heavy searching. I bought the Steeda Intake/SCT combo from Brent and absolutely love it:
Steeda/Brenspeed

I've also owned a C&L intake/Bamachips combo and had great luck with it. After I researched the different CAI kits I pretty well decided that there's not a huge difference in performance from unit to unit. There's a often-linked Magazine article that did a CAI shooutout (someone help me with the link); best I recall the JLT and the C&L were their favorites but horsepower gains among all the units were fairly close. A good intake and premium-fuel tune should net you an increase of 25-30 RWHP.

When I was doing my research on this earlier in the year, I found that indeed they were all very similar in performance, but the price varied. I paid a bit more for mine, but I love the different look the WMS gave me So it basicly falls down to personal preference(brand, looks and word of mouth). I'm sure the WMS may prove to be the hardest to sway the dealerships in your favor come warranty work under the hood being that you cut and splice the MAF wires. Everything else can be put back to stock...just will take alot longer then the more conventional CAIs.
