What is the symptoms of a burnt valve?

usualy crappy compression, do a leak down.

Hook a vacuum gauge up. If you have a bad valve the needle will vibrate slowly back and forth at idle. Then hold the engine at 2000 or so RPM. It will still vibrate but more rapidly with a bad valve.
