what is this on my COPs

thinkin one may have gone bad again recently so i was pullin em out to start testing and looked at the first two and they're not lookin so great

looks like burnt oil residue perhaps with some dirt stuck to it.

yea kinda smells like oil too....this cant be a good thing

alright i pulled the two plugs and neither have any kind of oil deposit so it may just be grime

That is caused by water getting past the COP. Either from washing the engine or road spray.

Water will get in there and cause some arcing which will look like someone held a lighter to it--that can cause mis-fires.

what year is your car? My cop's look like crap due to the coolant leak, just like yours. Any fluid to go along with that grime?
