What kind of digital cameras are you using? did i make a good choice?

i see alot of you guy's taking beautiful picture's, i just ordered a sony T1 5.1 megapixel camera and was wondering if that was a good choice??? what are you guy's using?? what and how does photoshop work? Do i need it? i had an olympus stylus 600 6.0mp but it kinda took chitty pic's to me and have heard good things about sony cam's anyways some bastard stole the olympus(which didn't record movies with sound anyways) from the stang last week at a gas station so it was time to buy a cool camera (which is why i bought the sont t1 since im no pro.)

by the way, how do i take CLEAR & SHARP picture's? is there a trick to that? or does olympus just suck???

My father in law has a 4.0mp olympus and it takes great pics. I am looking at one myself.

i have a 2.1MP HP camera thats a few years old, need to upgrade sometime

takes decent pics sometimes and others... meh

Damn dude!!!! You should have made a thread here and asked for advice before you ordered that thing. I used to sell digital cameras at Best Buy, worked there for 2 years. I used to steer customers away from that camera. Sure it's small and portable, has a nice big screen, 5.1 megapixels, but the quality is pure crap. The lens is really small, barely enough light can get through that thing. Outcome: dark, pixelated, blurry pics.

Is there a way to return it? Because if you can, def. go with Canon. They've got a 5 megapixel same size that the T1 and it's $300 I believe. Has a nice big lens, takes some good quality shots.

what's the model number for that canon? i think i would sell it on ebay if it doesent work out for me but your saying that the T1 sucks huh, damn i should have made a thread.

i actually just got a Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1MP, and i love it!! it takes some awesome pics, and i got the camera, a 256mb card, and a small case for less that $300...

Whitestallion- what do you think of this camera???

Nikons are up there with Canon and yes your Coolpix 5600 is a very good camera. juiced_94gt I forgot to mention Nikon, but they are also high quality. You should check out what stprorolla49 has.

Oh and as for the Canon, it's the SD400 ($300). And if you won't mind spending an extra hundred (which I would) I'd upgrade to the S2 IS it's got a much bigger lens and 12x optical zoom!! Where as the SD400 only has 3x.

I got a Sony cypershot DSC-H1. I love it takes great pics records vids with sound. Pretty easy to use some things on it give me issues but I have yet to read the book so i maybe doing it work better if i did. Everybody on here said it was a POS and not to buy it I did anyway and i love it

My advice on digital cameras is always the same. Buy a good brand. And by good brand, I mean that you should buy a brand that is primarily in the camera business (preferrably with a long history of selling film cameras). That list includes Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Konica/Minolta - maybe a few others. Sony may be the exception to that rule, because some of their stuff is good even though they clearly are NOT a camera company.

Still one of the biggest problems with Sony is that they are stuck on proprietary technologies (think Betamax). So if you get one, you better already be married to Sony, or expect to be married to them for some time to come. Because you cannot use their flash memory cards with any other company's products (sony uses the memory stick - not compact flash or other common format).

Just a couple of other thoughts on picking digital cameras. Ignore digital zoom. Get the biggest lens you can deal with - optics matter. Make sure you get all the features you want. Read some reviews.

I just bought a Canon PowerShot SD450 last friday, and its awesome. 5.1 megapixels, 3x optical/3x digital (I think) zoom, 2.5" LCD screen, and I added a 512mb memory card. I snapped a few pics of the stang with it and they came out super clear and detailed. I would definitely recommend it.

BTW the camera was $320 and the card was $30 after rebate at Circuit City.
