what kind of header bolts are these? (pics)

3/8" is the only socket I have that fits, but doesn't get a good bite and just slips when I try to loosen them.

What are they and how do I remove them?

those are 12 point bolts. you need a 12 point socket to grip them correctly.

yup, gotta be about 10 or 11 mm but only a 12 point wrench or socket will do it. just like the ds bolts, but they are 12mm

most header bolts are 7/16s or 3/8s

They are 3/8" 12-point. Your local Sears should be able to set you up for a couple of bucks. Like this one.

gotta love header bolts. put the wrench on, push with your hand and watch the knuckles

You should go to the hardware store and get allen bolts to replace those bolts with. thats what i did when mine backed out on me. they seem to be easier to get to and tighten for me and plus they look cool. my header bolts always come loose. just a thought good luck

Stage 8 locking header bolts. End of problem.
