What kind of spark plugs is everyone running?

There are so many choices out there... standard resistor, platinums, double platinums, platinum +4, iridiums, etc. And so many brands... Champion, Bosch, Autolite, Motorcraft, NGK, etc.

What type of plugs are you guys using?

Are iridium plugs really worth the extra cash?

I have always used stock replacement Motorcrafts. I run them in my 96 Cobra which is supercharged. They are two steps colder and gapped tight. I also run Motorcrafts on stock to mildliy modified Mustangs as well.

I used NGK TR6's ( two steps colder) in my 95 Procharged GT, and those plugs worked well also. I had no problems with them.

If your car is N/A....stick to the stock heat range.

I use copper autolite plugs. Its what everyone runs in the fox community so i decided to run them in my 2000. Work good for a N/A car. They also make colder ones.

on a NA motor , I would use stock heat range NGK , or Denso Iridiums and gap them at the OE gap ......

ummm, better look again as there is NO such Motorcraft sparkplug # as a AGSF-12C.. ......now there are AGSF-12-FM's which is a "fine wire" plug used in the '03/04 Cobra's and Lightning's........ then there is a AWSFA-12-C used for the "flex-fuel" cars, but the "AW" series plugs are ONLY a 1/2 thread design, not a "full thread" like the "AG" series and Motorcraft has NO plans att to change the AWSFA-12-C to a full thread design.........

N/a car stick with standard plugs (ngk,autolite,motorcrafts).Iridiums are OK but are not worth the money.

N/a for years i ran autolite 764's ,when i went blown i went motorcrafts ..

Stay away from platinums they are NOT A performance plug.

Put them in back around June, and I still have the ones that came out lying around here somewere.

I got them for $1.67 each. Got a fuel filter for $9.37 at the same time and put that in, too. Can't beat those prices with a stick. Especially with what a shop wants for plugs and a fuel filter w/install.

But the 4.6L Mustang comes STOCK with platnium plugs. The iginition is powerful enough to run them unlike the 5.0 Mustangs which ran like crap with platniums.


True copper is better, and silver plugs would be even better (not made for Mustang yet)

I still have the stock motorcraft platnium plugs in my car, w/ 51K miles. I'm starting to notice a slight misfire under load in 5th gear, so i guess it's time to replace them.
