what makes the shifter spring back to neutrul

+1. The springs in my BBK junk went limp real quick. I've since replaced them with stiffer springs from the hardware store, and it seems to have worked out OK so far.

I know that wasn't really the question, but I thought I'd contribute. :D

The B&M shifter I had went bad. I couldn't tell in the car, it felt fine. When I pulled it out when I took the transmission out, it had up and down play in it. I sold it on Ebay for 45 bucks and bought a new MGW!!!! :nice:

Did it have up and down play when it was attached to the transmission? IIRC, the shifter should have some play when it is off the trans, but when it's bolted on, the linkage inside the trans keeps it from moving up and down.

I guess either way it doesn't matter, now you have a MGW. I wish I had an MGW. :(
