Ive been using Mobil 1 10W 30 and was wondering if I should start using 15W50. Ive been told that 15W 50 from Mobil 1 is a performance driving oil.

15w50 is way too thick for the stock engine, even in the hot climates. I run 5w20 still here in AZ and have just fine oil pressure.

You should run whatever the thinnest is you can still maintain good pressure at hot idle with. 5w30 should be just fine. Motorcraft is great oil.

You mean I won't gain 10.2 hp from switching to RP?

Wait wait, it's a preventative mod which = performance mod!

You're so full of ****, your eyes are brown

Synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-20. Use 10w-30 or 20w-50 for cars that have really high mileage (100k +).

Mobil1 and Royal Purple are the sh1t. Use the Motorcraft oil filter, nothing else.

I used to use Mobil 1 5W20 at first, the when I got my vortech, switched to 5W30 (Vortech's recomendation). I just changed out all my fluids to RP this week, and the car runs smoother.

I run mobil one full synthetic 5w20. You guys will call me crazy but I did notice a little more power and it definitly revs better now, before when you would rev it seemed sluggish but when i switched over to mobil ones full synthetic stuff it was like a brand new engine. I definitly recommend it and will continue to buy it.

5w30 Royal Purple for sure. I used to use Mobil 1 but decided to try the Royal Purple and it runs noticeably smoother now and I did noticed an increase in about 2 mpg....not much but hey it's something. It's definately worth the $7 a quart price.

50 weight oil is too thick. I don't know the 4.6 engine very well yet but thick oil has caused a lot of oil pump drive shafts to break on 5.0's at high rpm's.
