Hey my dad and I are going to be putting in my TriAx today and I need to get some RTV sealant. I just need to know what color to get and if Autozone or Advanced auto should have it. Thanks
I didn't even put the sealant on there. It's one of those things that you don't really have to do it but it may cause problems but then again it might not. I've had my Pro 5.0 for about six months now and no probs. The box will never get that full with tranny fluid unless you have a problem.
I would think you'd want a sealer that's hi-temp like you'd use on the rear axle cover. I know the trans and rear axle don't get that hot like an engine, but they do get a little warm.
I used blue cause they were out of black when i did mine. There is a guy that sells rubber gaskets for the triax on ebay i think but i have no idea if they are any good.
Red or Black is preferred. Don't use too much or you'll risk getting it into the trannie. Just a thin bead is all it takes. (Not enough is better than too much!)
